IWC launches a new Portuguese series manual-winding tourbillon watch

The Portuguese series is the most symbolic model of IWC. Following the 40mm automatic watch and 42mm perpetual calendar watch, the brand launched a new manual winding tourbillon watch (model: IW545801). This watch has a new look with a new case, a new display and a new movement.

The new watch is made of 18K Armor gold. The microstructure of this red alloy has been improved, making it harder than traditional gold alloys. The diameter is 42.4 mm and the thickness is only 10.8 mm. It is the thinnest model of all Portuguese series timepieces. . The case design retains all the unique elements of the Portuguese series. It has been polished (flat) and brushed (side). It is equipped with a slender bezel, a sapphire crystal mirror and a see-through case back, and is water-resistant to 60 meters.

The silver-plated dial draws inspiration from the nautical world and is smooth and timeless. The leaf-shaped hands are gold-plated, and the iconic Arabic numerals and rectangular-applied hour markers are made of 18k 5N red gold, echoing the color of the case. The displayed information is extremely simple, with only the hour and minute hands pointing to the black track scale circle, and all attention is focused on the one-minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

The tourbillon is assembled from 56 parts. First of all, it has a flying structure, abandoning the upper bridge, and is completely supported by the bottom, so you can better observe the internal operation; secondly, it is a modern interpretation of classic complex functions, with a frequency of 4 Hz ( The traditional tourbillon has a frequency of 3 Hz), equipped with a silicon pallet and escape wheel processed by the Diamond Shell process, which is not only effective in anti-magnetic, but also reduces friction and does not require lubrication, thereby promoting a smooth and balanced flow of kinetic energy inside the movement; It is also equipped with a stop device, which is extremely rare in similar mechanisms.

Built-in brand-made 81905 movement, this movement is specially developed by IWC for this watch. It is assembled from 159 parts and contains 20 jewels. It has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and can provide up to 84 Hour power reserve. In addition, the back of the movement is also beautifully decorated with Geneva pattern and fish scale pattern.

IWC’s new Portuguese series manual-winding tourbillon watch comes with a black Santoni alligator leather strap and an 18k 5N red gold folding clasp. Comply with CITES standards. The lugs are short and curved, making it comfortable to wear. This watch is sold by IWC boutiques, authorized retail partners and the brand’s official website, with a price tag of 469,000 yuan.
